Sprecklesville was named after Claus Spreckels a California sugar refiner who once owned 41,000 acres of Maui land and built a 4 million dollar sugar mill in Spreckelsville creating the worlds most modern and biggest sugar factory. The newspapers in Hawaii refered to Claus as "His Majesty Spreckels".
An oceanfront home in Sprecklesville Maui Country Club is a fun 9 hole golf course just steps from Spreckelsville, it was originally built in the 1920 for the sugar workers and is Maui's oldest golf course.
